‘STATIC DYNAMIC’

We developed this scheme of Housing for Economically Weaker Sections of Society. We found that in prevailing developments, the access corridors and staircase to the houses are exploited to maximise the footprint of the unit on the piece of land. This resulted in narrowing staircases, and large amount of area being wasted in access corridors, and, low levels of lighting and ventilation for internal rooms. We devised the scheme to counter these problems by providing a generous central core open well staircase and stacking units in various levels of the landings. The result is ample open plan houses with voids opening out into the peripheral walls to maximise on lighting and ventilation.
